UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY ZONE MEET REPORT 2010
We can report that The Big 6 River Bend Chapter probably had the most judges ever for an SDC Zone Meet. In Moline, IL on Saturday August 7, there were 85 SDC judges and 26 “walk-on judges” to judge the 71 cars that were on the show field. That number was determined by the number of ballots for Peoples choice in the 9 classes that were counted by car show organizer Ken Anderson and his staff.
There were 92 pre-registrations and 16 walk up registrations. 113 people were served at the banquet. During our banquet, members from the Quad Cities Antique Ford Club did security for the cars on the showground.
Award Winners
Class A - Antique cars through 1947 – - Al & Marie Elmore, Davenport, IA
Class B – Cars 1947 thru 1952 - - - James & Nancy Heinsohn, Huntley, IL
Class C – Cars 1953 thru 58 (non Hawks) – Dennis & Patricia Patterson, Niles, MI
Class D – Cars 1959 thru 66 (non Hawks – Bruce & Sandra Bovingdon, Siren, WI
Class E – All Hawks (except Packard) – Jay & Beverly Crites, Elk Grove Village, IL
Class F – All Avanti - - - - - - - - Chuck & Kathy Galauner, Elburn, IL
Class G – All Trucks - - - - - - - - Dick & Helen Snyder, Dixon. IL
Class H – All Modifieds - - - - - - - Ben & Marcy Wenberg, Iowa City, IA
Class K – All Packards - - - - - - - Jeff & Ceci Cassel, Westbrook, MN
The usual long distance award was presented; this year the hard luck award was not real severe… there was a gas tank leak that caused one of our attendees to make many fuel stops on the way to Moline. While at the meet, he did find a tank for sale in his home state of Wisconsin. Three fun awards were presented as well. The speaker at the banquet presented some history on a world renowned cornet yielding jazz musician from Davenport, Iowa; Bix Beiderbecke.
We had registrants from every state in our zone: Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri & Wisconsin. We also had registrations from California, Michigan, Indiana, Kansas, and Colorado.
